Monday Mural - Bottle Of Wine

Andy | Monday, May 28, 2012 | Best Blogger Tips

Just a simple wall painting with no credit for the artist. I took this photo on January 6, 2012 and I'm glad I did. It has since been painted over. It's a recently renovated restaurant and I am assuming that the mural did not fit in with the new owners decor. I'm linking to Monday Mural.

My Old Tree Number One

Andy | Friday, May 25, 2012 | Best Blogger Tips

I was hoping to photograph My OLd Tree full of blooms. I kept a close eye on it but never saw any. Either I missed them or else it never had any.

Monday Mural - Camp X

Andy | Monday, May 14, 2012 | Best Blogger Tips

Artist Tony Johnson.
On December 6, 1941, Camp X - Special Training School 103 officially opened on the shores of Lake Ontario. Under the auspices of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill's Special Operations Executive and his Canadian Chief of Security, Sir William Stephenson, five hundred secret agent graduates were schooled in a gruelling ten to twelve week curriculum that included hand-to-hand combat, interrogation techniques, psychological warfare, explosives training, as well as espionage, sabotage, and survival skills behind enemy lines.

Hydra, the immensely powerful short wave radio installation at Camp X, numbered among its key operators, William "Bill" Hardcastle. Ian Fleming, author and creator of "James Bond", was also trained here. I'm linking to Monday Mural.

Mother Goose

Andy | Friday, May 11, 2012 | Best Blogger Tips

I first posted a photo of this goose on April 29. In this photo taken on May 10 she's still there. Just like a typical mother, her job is 24 - 7. On this day in warm sunshine she is catching up on her sleep. Canada geese sit on their eggs from 24 to 28 days. Happy Mother`s Day.

Lonely Boy

Andy | Thursday, May 10, 2012 | Best Blogger Tips

This is the first baby Canada Goose I have seen this season. He was the only one I saw with his parents. The adults were afraid of me and entered the water deserting this little guy on the shore. He would not follow them into the water. He just stood there peeping and peeping calling them back. Once I moved away a few feet the two parents returned to his side.

Monday Mural - Busy Wagons

Andy | Monday, May 07, 2012 | Best Blogger Tips

Located at Second and Hurontario Streets on the side of what is now Cafe Chartreuse. The location was chosen because the old building had great visibility and both the wall and the brick were in good shape, and most importantly, the central location. Measuring 12’ x 84’, the mural has the colour and activity of a busy day on the main street of Collingwood in the early 20th century.

The mural was painted by award winning Toronto artist John Hood, using water based acrylic paint which becomes permanent when set. Busy Wagons is an artistic rendering of the view of downtown Collingwood looking north from the Town Hall including people doing activities of all kinds as well as images of horses, bicyclist and the original grain elevators. Horse drawn wagons and shop windows complete the mural. The artist created sketches for the mural from old archival photographs. I'm linking to Monday Mural.
