Monday Mural - In The Way Of Progress

Andy | Monday, August 29, 2011 | Best Blogger Tips

By Phil, Jennifer & Jamie Richards, July 1996 2835 Kingston Road at Eastville Avenue, Scarborough. This commemorative mural depicts passengers boarding a radial car at Stop 17 on the Toronto and York Radial Line, at the junction of St. Clair Avenue East and Kingston Road. In the background is Scarborough High School, now R.H. King Academy, which was built in 1922 to accommodate a growing population. A horse-drawn wagon travels leisurely along St. Clair Avenue, while on Kingston Road, a gas-powered truck is temporarily halted by a symbol of Scarborough's rural heritage. This mural was a Scarborough Bicentennial project, initiated by the Cliffcrest Community Association and managed by Mural Routes. I'm linking to Oakland Daily Photo.

Fort Petrie Military Museum - Cape Breton, Nova Scotia

Andy | Wednesday, August 10, 2011 | | Best Blogger Tips

Touring Cape Breton Island last June, the weather was mostly wet and cold. The wife and I decided, to visit an indoor event. The tour book said it was open but when we arrived, it was closed. This for me, was another Wally World. If you ever watched the movie "Vacation" with Chevy Chase you will know what I am talking about. See a brief description of the fort here.

Watery Wednesday - Dam

Andy | Tuesday, August 02, 2011 | Best Blogger Tips

This dam controls water levels on the Trent-Severn Waterway system. Arrive at this spot at the right time in April and you see a mass of Pickerel (Walleyes) spawning.

Down With The Old And Up With the New

Andy | Monday, August 01, 2011 | Best Blogger Tips

The Tropix Restaurant is slated for demolition. New plans call for a two story TD Bank building to be erected. The Tropix at one time used to be a Ponderosa Steakhouse. As of the present time there are no Ponderosas left in Canada.
