Artist: Dan Tamborro. Completed in 2000. It was commissioned by Bud Gowan, owner of Bud Gowan Antiques. The artist was allowed little creative freedom as the concept and vision was that of Gowan. It was for promoting the business after it had changed locations. The mural mimics the era of the establishment as see through the old billboard hanger. Painted directly onto brick after extensive restoration of building. I'm linking to Monday Mural.

I love these old "signs". Wish more modern billboards stuck to the simple ideas of their predecessors! Nice find.
ReplyDeleteLove the billboard hanger and the bit of paper at the top not yet attached!
ReplyDeleteYou have the greatest murals where you live!!!
ReplyDeleteYou keep finding these fabulous murals. The trompe l'oeil effect is so eye catching. Good for Bud. Four floors of antiques sounds like heaven to me. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful...and so appropriate for the old brick building!
ReplyDeleteThe stairs almost look three dimensional ... as short as it is, makes you wonder how the sign hanger is going to reach that corner.
ReplyDeleteI love it!
