Pickering Pedestrian Bridge
At the Pickering Go Train & Bus Station, the extension of the pedestrian bridge has been completed to the car parking structure. One can now walk in comfort, protected from the elements, to the train platform. You can see a previous photo here from when the bridge was under construction. Just in case you are wondering that is a canopy in the foreground and not another bridge.

Incorruptible Cashier
James Ritty, was tired of the dishonesty of his bartenders who were pocketing some of his profits and had an idea of a way to solve the problem. In 1879 he applied for a patent. The result was “Ritty’s Incorruptible Cashier” which became the prototype for the cash registers used today. The National Cash Register Company of Dayton bought the rights to the patent and became the largest manufacturer of cash registers in the world.

Irish River #2 Covered Bridge
*****************************************
I just happen to be there when restoration work was taking place. The work crew were very friendly and let me roam throughout and take as many photos that I wanted.
*****************************************
They were supposed to finished in a week but were run behind schedule.
The larger beams had to be shipped from British Columbia.

This is some of culprits that were responsible for the repair work. The bridge is located very close to ocean and the tides push up past the bridge. The salt water takes it's toll on the lumber and metal.
