Transformers

Andy | Wednesday, October 17, 2012 | Best Blogger Tips

The Transformers have arrived at Primitive Designs.
This life size one is standing at the driveway entrance.

The larger of the two is located beside the building. Both of them are contructed from used car parts. Primitive Designs is strange, fun, educational, exotic and just plain weird. I highly recommend a visit to this retail outlet. Even if you are not in the mood for buying, the sights inside will boggle your mind. Just click on the location link below for directions.

Monday Muarls - Rescue

Andy | Monday, October 15, 2012 | Best Blogger Tips

Artist: Fred Harrison. The Lifeboat Crew of 1902... Captain Reg Moore, Alfonzo Taylor, Frank Eveland, Thomas Hough, William Hough, Henry Sherry & Fred Pollock.
On October 29, 1902, in a savage Lake Erie gale, the three masted American sailing schooner Mineral State of Alpena carrying 294 tons went aground and started to break up off the high clay bluffs east of Port Stanley, Ontario, Canada.

The gallant Port Stanley Life Saving Crew, watched by a large crowd of residents, braved the towering waves and rescued the entire crew of the schooner as dusk was falling. In recognition of their bravery, the life saving crew all received gold medals from then US president Theodore Roosevelt. I'm linking to Monday Mural.

Victorian House

Andy | Friday, October 12, 2012 | Best Blogger Tips

Towers, turrets, and rounded porches give Queen Anne architecture regal airs. But the style has nothing to do with British royalty, and Queen Anne houses do not resemble buildings from the medieval times of the English Queen Anne. Instead, Queen Anne architecture expresses the exuberance and inventiveness of industrial-age builders. Study the style and you'll discover several different subtypes, proving that there's no end to the variety of the Queen Anne style. The present day building is being used as a retirement home. The grey portion is a add on and renovations are planned for 2013.
