This year I have been neglecting "My Old Tree". My original plan was to keep on photographing it throughout the four seasons of the year. I finally returned a few days ago to see how it was doing.
*****************************************
The tree looked just great. The only thing noticeably wrong is the almost complete lack of apples on the tree. I could only see six of them. This year the apple crop in Southern Ontario is running as high as 85% failure. Warm weather arrived earlier than normal. The blossoms came and then the weather turn cold destroying most of the blooms. No blossoms, no apples.
I think that happened to a lot of apple orchards this year.
ReplyDeleteWe have been in our home a year now and last year we had Granny Smith's til Thankgiving. This year not a one! The pear tree right next to it is loaded, but worms infested. Upper portions of each pear are edible, thank goodness. Strange goings on. Thanks for your comment. Mary at merrydotdandy is my sister. I'm following you now. Join me? I'd love it!!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it sad that this year's crop is so bad?!
ReplyDeleteCamera Girl, you are right. Not all farmers have crop insurance. They will be hit pretty hard.
ReplyDeletePretty shot. It would be great to post multiple photos of your tree taken during different seasons in the future!
