Watery Wednesday - Dam

Andy | Tuesday, August 02, 2011 | Best Blogger Tips

This dam controls water levels on the Trent-Severn Waterway system. Arrive at this spot at the right time in April and you see a mass of Pickerel (Walleyes) spawning.

  3. The waters above the spillway look placid; below, they look turbulent!

    FEEL THE WATERS’ HEALING

    If you’re stressed and weary
    Try a thing or two:
    Go down to the river,
    Take a friend with you;
    Take your shoes and socks off,
    Plunge in twenty toes—
    Feel the waters’ healing
    As the river flows!

  4. What a nice watery shot! I dont have a thing for dams because my house was submerged when all three major dams in the Philippines let go of water at the same time during a major typhoon. Ha ha, I know its not the dam's problem.

  6. I would so very much like to see a mass of fish spawning... on my bucket list! :-)

    [I find it amazing how much travel I do too, Andy! It's just in my DNA! Fortunately I love it, even when it's for work.]

  9. I love dams. I just got back from vacation in Oregon and took lots of pictures of some of the dams on the Columbia. I hadn't planned on posting them, I just took them to stick in our album and to show family but I see from your fantastic photography how beautiful they really are so maybe I will post them. Thanks.

  10. This photo reminds me of the Waterton Dam in Alberta. During spring run-off the force of the flow is absolutely incredible!
