This is the first baby Canada Goose I have seen this season. He was the only one I saw with his parents. The adults were afraid of me and entered the water deserting this little guy on the shore. He would not follow them into the water. He just stood there peeping and peeping calling them back. Once I moved away a few feet the two parents returned to his side.
awww, I love seeing baby geese. I have been searching the usual haunts for some goslings around here, but nothing so far.

You are right Violet. They would protect him. I think they were trying to encourage him to go into the water. This is the time of year when adult Canada geese begin moulting their feathers. When that happens the lose their ability to fly.
