Mystery Insect

I spotted this insect on the hedge in my backyard. It's my first time seeing one like this. Anyone know what it is or anything about it?

    It's a hummingbird moth, I think. Nice find!

    If it's a cross between a butterfly and bumble bee we're all in trouble.

    Hi there - I will also go with humming bird moth. We used to get them in the UK and they would often lead to reports of actual Humming Birds! If I remember correctly they were very fond of honeysuckle!
