Monday Mural - Ontario Regiment

Andy | Monday, June 18, 2012 | Best Blogger Tips

Artist: John Hood. Ontario Regiment - 130 Years of Service (1996)
This mural commemorates the 130 year history of Oshawa's own Ontario Regiment and its involvement in the nation's conflicts and the UN peace keeping. All of the medals depicted at the bottom of the mural are accurate representations of Canadian military decorations.
Located on the east wall of McLaughlin Bandshell at Memorial Park, Metcalfe Street.

  1. Love this, I have never seen anything like it...4 murals together like that. A very nice tribute to our vets. Nice photo of it as well.

  4. I love to see history preserved this way. I also think it makes a better learning statement than a few pages in a stuffy old book.

Thanks for sharing this part of your history today.

  6. Wonderfully designed and painted. A creative and instructive lesson on your military history. The inclusion of the medals is a fascinating element. The style reminds me of recruitment posters. Memorials, though, almost always make me brood about the horrors soldiers experienced and all the young lives lost. Thanks, Andy, for this contribution to Monday Mural.
