A drop in temperatures last Saturday night helped to form a thin layer of ice on Frenchman's Bay. It has along way to go before it will be able to support people.

I do hope that residents are mindful of the thickness of the ice before they traverse the lake in winter. Each year we have episodes of people and cars falling through the ice on our lakes. Too often the result is tragedy that could have been avoided.

We don't gwt that much frost at the moment and it's been many years since I have seen the Thames freeze over
