Springtime Breeding

The one with the neck band is the female. The collars are part of an effort to track the populations and movements of the geese. One of the side effects of having Canada Geese in your neighbourhood is the poop you see on the sidewalk.

  1. This is one of my favorite scenes when we go to the lake in late spring..not the poop LOL, but the baby geese. Still watching for them here on my pond, but no sign of them yet!

  2. We have some that winter here close to our house. They left in late March. I've not seen any with neck bands though. They have a nice little family.

  3. Interesting as our Canada Geese young are about twice as big. I suppose they can get a head start on nesting here in the warmer weather of California.

  4. Canada geese have taken over all the countries
Anywhere they are, they messed up all the seats.
But this is a lovely picture of the family.
