Irish River #2 Covered Bridge

Built in 1946 spanning the Irish River in St. Martin's, New Brunswick.

I just happen to be there when restoration work was taking place. The work crew were very friendly and let me roam throughout and take as many photos that I wanted.

They were supposed to finished in a week but were run behind schedule.
The larger beams had to be shipped from British Columbia.

This is some of culprits that were responsible for the repair work. The bridge is located very close to ocean and the tides push up past the bridge. The salt water takes it's toll on the lumber and metal.

  3. Fascinating to see that work being done, and to get the access to it as well. I've missed this part of New Brunswick when I was there.

  7. I have never actually seen a covered bridge and just today discovered that there is one in Minnesota; guess I'll have to make a journey to see and photo it.
