I was out for a stroll when I came across this guy (gal?).

This is a newly created regeneration conservation area. The water was very close but it was so strange to see a heron on a almost desert like environment.

I was able to get within about ten feet without scaring this beautiful creature. This made me think he was not well and under some kind of stress. Within thirty minutes he flew away effortlessly and I assume everything was going to turn out okay for him.
These are really good shots of a beautiful bird. Love that close up!
ReplyDeleteGetting within ten feet of heron is unheard of. You may be right; not feeling well. Ate something he shouldn't have.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous bird, absolutely. You were lucky, you got beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteThe last one is super.
Very well done to get so close and get such magnificent photos.
ReplyDeleteHe might have been feeling a bit under the weather, but flying away fine is a good sign.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a juvenile GBH. Nice shots! They're normally quite skittish.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!
ReplyDeleteI am very impressed...these guys (or gals) can be very wary.
ReplyDeleteLucky you! Sometimes juveniles are less wary than adults.
