Strange Heron

I was out for a stroll when I came across this guy (gal?).

This is a newly created regeneration conservation area. The water was very close but it was so strange to see a heron on a almost desert like environment.

I was able to get within about ten feet without scaring this beautiful creature. This made me think he was not well and under some kind of stress. Within thirty minutes he flew away effortlessly and I assume everything was going to turn out okay for him.

  2. Getting within ten feet of heron is unheard of. You may be right; not feeling well. Ate something he shouldn't have.

  5. He might have been feeling a bit under the weather, but flying away fine is a good sign.

  6. Looks like a juvenile GBH. Nice shots! They're normally quite skittish.

  8. Lucky you! Sometimes juveniles are less wary than adults.
